Favorite Blogs

Hey guys!
Today I thought that I'd share links to some of my favorite blogs!
The links should take you to the blog's home page, and it should open in a new tab.
Tell me in the comments if you're having issues with the links, sometimes they simply don't work! :(

The Refashionista
This blog is written by a woman in South Carolina, she turns old thrift store clothes into entirely new, cute outfits.

epbot
This blog is by far my favorite blog ever! This is the personal blog of Jen Yates, who began Cakewrecks. (Cakewrecks is a hilarious site, with slightly crude humor.) Epbot is full of inspiring geekery and humor.

Grasping For Objectivity In My Subjective Life
This blog is written by a stay at home mom in Alabama, she is an accountant during her kids' nap time and home schools her daughter. She is hilarious and very real, with an amazing sense of humor!

I also love Pinterest
I was tempted not to say anything about pinterest, simply because it is addicting and a huge waster of my time! I can spent hours on there! It takes a while to learn how it works, but once you figure it out, it's amazing, fun, and simple to use. Also, while Pinterest may be addicting, it does have amazing recipies and ideas for home decorating, as well as fashion advice.

Well, I think that's it! If you have a blog/website you think I should see, share it in the comments, and I'll look at it! If I find more sites I love, I may do this again.

Spring Ready and Cold

Hi guys!
I'm so ready for warmth, though I'm usually fairly okay with any temperature. I'd actually rather be cold than hot, I feel sick if I get too hot. What do you think? Hot or cold? (My Mom would much rather be hot!)  Also, I absolutely despise spring storms! They give me anxiety! By far, my least favorite feeling in the world is feeling helpless!
Speaking of spring, my spring break was lovely, though only 3 days long. (a Friday, weekend, Monday, and Tuesday) My cousins came to town for Friday and left Saturday evening. It was lots of fun to see them!

We started state testing today, this year is the first year that we are taking the Common Core tests. The government revamped what each grade covers and tests over. New tests have been written, but we're the "guinea pigs" this year, so the scores don't really count.
I have a paper chain hanging from my ceiling, it no longer reaches the baseboard! I have less than 30 days left! Our usual school year had been from mid-August through mid-May. Last year we got out in early May, and school started early September! This year, we get out late April and reconvene early September! Amazingly long summer breaks!
And before I go, I unearthed some photos I took this past fall while riding in a horsedrawn carrige:

 The Horses:
The pic. above was a really beautiful car that I spotted here in Buhler, but I don't know who owns it. Which is unusual considering my dad. (Stuart Goertzen, who runs Headway Engine Service south of town.)

 Well, gotta go! Bye!

Spring Pause

Today is the first day of spring break. Or "Spring Pause" as my band director has dubbed it. (Due to it's shortness. Only 5 days, including the weekend!)  We're going out to eat for my Uncle Scott's birthday tonight. I'm excited to see him open his presents! He has Downs Syndrome and loves calenders and dates, he always knows what's going on! :) We got him a calender, a tee-shirt, and a sports poster.
Here is a picture of all of the siblings (my Mom and her siblings) together:
Scott is at the far right, Mom is in the green:

We're also thinking about painting my bedroom, right now it's a hideous pepto-bismol pink. I'm thinking about painting it a light blue/turquoise/sea foam. My room is so small and is mainly dominated by my huge bunk bed. The bright pink makes it feel smaller. It doesn't help that my carpet is TARDIS blue! I love my carpet, but it clashes horribly, if I paint my room blue, it won't clash. Overall, I think that I want my room light turquoise with lots of orange and a few pink accents.
This is a photo of my Christmas tree, but it shows both carpet and walls:
Well, I gotta go! Bye!

Winter Cleaning And A Snowstorm

This past Saturday night, we were hit with another wintery blast. It snowed (though not much accumulated) and sleeted/iced. We lost power at about 11:00 at night. It went out for approximately thirty seconds and then came back on, this pattern was repeated several times.
At that time, I was laying in bed reading my book with my booklight. I was startled when my lamp went out, but I still had my booklight and was therefor, not plunged into dark.
After the lights flickering for about the 3rd time, They went out, and stayed out. I decided to get up and see what was going on. My parents were both still awake and were now standing over our heater vent discussing what to do. I grabbed the battery-powered lantern from my bedside desk and went out into the living room. As it turns out, when we lost power, we also lost heat.
My dad had found a manual override in the basement, but it was a button that he would have to hold down when he wanted the fan to run. He would have to do this every 20-30 minutes to keep the pipes from freezing!
We would have gone to my grandparents because they have a generator, but Dad would have to stay either way to keep the pipes from freezing, and the roads were really bad. So we stayed home. Apparently at like one in the morning the power came back on, thank goodness!
Church was canceled because of the roads, so we spent all weekend here at home, not that I'm complaining by any means. It was nice and cozy!

So, anyway, I spent the weekend cleaning my room and sorting through clothes. While it wasn't fun at the time, (Except for the re-organizing) I'm so glad I did it. My room looks and feels so much bigger now!

Well, I should wrap this up, I have a Doctor Who episode to finish!
